The Chairwoman of the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI), who is also a 1997 alumna of the D3 English program at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Mada Ayu Habsari, encourages the active involvement of Indonesian women in the development and expansion of the renewable energy sector in the country. This push aligns with the ongoing high demand for labor in the sector, as well as the vision of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who targets the implementation of 100 Gigawatts (GW) of Solar Power Plants (PLTS), specifically to reach remote areas in an effort to combat climate change.

Mada highlights the concerning conditions in remote areas that still severely lack access to energy sources. This limited energy access directly hinders the community’s educational rights and socio-cultural life, with the heaviest impact being felt by women and children. This reality is what motivates her to continuously initiate and develop PLTS programs across various remote parts of the archipelago.

To address the massive industry demands and create concrete solutions, Mada specifically invites young women to participate and contribute through green jobs. She emphasizes that Indonesia currently requires a large green workforce, which must certainly be accompanied by an improvement in the quality of human resources so that the potential of renewable energy can be maximized.

For her tireless dedication to lighting up remote villages and breaking the public stigma that considers solar energy expensive, Mada Ayu Habsari won the Liputan6 Great Women Award 2025 in the Renewable Energy category. This appreciation further fuels her commitment and enthusiasm to continue driving positive change, raising public awareness about the importance of energy efficiency, and expanding the widespread benefits of renewable energy in Indonesia.
