She currently holds a key role as Principal Investigator at Bahari Agro and actively contributes to various global research and development initiatives, including as a Marine Biologist at S. Alga Indonesia and Service Consultant for OLMIX FRANCE SA . Dr. Maya Puspita’s academic journey is truly impressive, reflecting her dedication and love for the ocean. He began his education at the Faculty of Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, earning a Bachelor of Marine Science in 2007. His passion for coastal area management led him to earn a Master of Science (MSi) in Coastal Resource Management from the Faculty of Marine Sciences, Diponegoro University, in 2011. He continued his postgraduate studies in Europe, earning a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Marine Biology from the Université de Bretagne Occidentale, France, in 2010. The pinnacle of his academic achievements was achieved when he completed his Doctoral studies (Doctor) in Marine Biology from the Université Bretagne Sud, France (2014-2017), and earned a Doctoral degree in Coastal Resource Management from Diponegoro University (2012-2014). This dual doctoral education from leading institutions in Indonesia and France equipped him with a unique global perspective and in-depth multidisciplinary expertise.
Dr. Maya Puspita is a mosaic of experiences across research, industry, and community service. She has served in various roles highlighting her expertise in marine and algae. Her experience includes serving as a Marine Biologist at S. Alga Indonesia (2020-present) and as a Service Consultant for global companies such as OLMIX FRANCE SA (2023-2024). Her role as Principal Investigator at Bahari Agro demonstrates her leadership in leading innovative research projects. She also has a strong track record in algae associations, having served as Executive Director of the Indonesian Seaweed Association andResearcher at the Seaweed Research and Popularization Center (2018-2019). Her previous experience in various organizations, including SELT Marine Group (Chef de Project, 2019-2020), the Indonesian Seaweed Association , and the Green Economy Growth Program of Papua Provinces , as well as as a database operator at the Indonesia-Australia Forest Carbon Partnership , demonstrates her broad range of interests and contributions. Her involvement as a Youth Mentor at the Export School (2021-present) demonstrates her commitment to nurturing the younger generation.
Dr. Maya Puspita’s scientific contributions are evident in her numerous influential publications. Her work, such as “Seasonal biomass and alginate stock assessment of three abundant genera of brown macroalgae using multispectral high-resolution satellite remote sensing: A case study at Ekas Bay (Lombok, Indonesia),” demonstrates her expertise in combining marine biology with advanced remote sensing technology.
