Susuhunan Pakubuwana XIV (abbreviated as PB XIV; born on 9 February 2002 under the name Bendoro Raden Mas Suryo Aryo Mustiko) is the thirteenth Susuhunan of Surakarta, having reigned since 15 November 2025.
Upon reaching adulthood, his name was changed to Purubaya, and in 2022 he was formally appointed Crown Prince with the title Kangjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Anom Hamangkunagara Sudibyo Rajaputra Narendra ing Mataram.
Following the death of Pakubuwana XIII, Hamangkunagara declared his readiness to succeed to the throne before his father’s body at Sasana Parasdya, Keraton Surakarta, on 5 November 2025. Ten days later, the royal coronation ceremony was held.
Born on 26 September 2002 as Bendoro Raden Mas Suryo Aryo Mustiko, he is the youngest son of K.G.P.H. Hangabehi—later Pakubuwana XIII—and K.R.Ay. Pradapaningsih. After his father’s coronation as King of the Kasunanan Surakarta on 10 September 2004, his title changed to Gusti Raden Mas Suryo Aryo Mustiko.
As a child, Suryo Aryo Mustiko developed a strong interest in wayang kulit (traditional Javanese shadow puppetry) and studied to become a dalang (puppeteer). He participated in several cultural events, including the Surakarta Cultural Jamboree at Loji Gandrung and the 3rd National Children’s Dalang Gathering at the Central Java Cultural Park Pavilion in 2009.
Pakubuwana XIV completed his undergraduate studies in Law at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Diponegoro, from 2020 to 2024. He then continued his studies in a Master’s program in Politics and Government at Universitas Gadjah Mada beginning in 2025.
After reaching puberty, G.R.M. Suryo Aryo Mustiko received a new name and title, Gusti Pangeran Haryo Purubaya, which was later elevated to Kangjeng Gusti Pangeran Haryo Adipati Hamangkunagara.
On 27 February 2022, coinciding with the 18th anniversary of Pakubuwana XIII’s accession to the throne, Purubaya was officially appointed Crown Prince with the title Kangjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Anom Hamangkunagara Sudibya Rajaputra Narendra Mataram.
