M. Faiz Kurniawan, S.H., M.H. (born 3 August 1991) is an Indonesian politician from the Golkar Party who serves as Regent of Batang for the 2025–2030 term. He assumed office on 20 February 2025 after being inaugurated by Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace, Jakarta.
After completing his secondary education at State Senior High School 1 Demak in 2009, Faiz pursued his undergraduate studies at Universitas Diponegoro, earning a Bachelor of Law (S.H.) degree in 2014. Five years later, he continued his postgraduate education at the University of Indonesia, where he obtained a Master of Law (M.H.) degree in 2022.
Faiz is also widely known for his active involvement in various organizations. His organizational experience includes serving as a member of the Demak Branch of IPNU (2007–2009), Acting Chairman of PMII Diponegoro Commissariat (2011–2012), Secretary of the Semarang City Branch of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) (2012–2013), member of the Manunggal Student Press Institute, Expert Commission Member of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Diponegoro (2011–2012), Chairman of the Central Java Provincial Student Council of Ahlith Thoriqoh Al-Mu’tabaroh An Nahdliyyah (2011–2014), Treasurer of the Legal Aid Institute of the Central Executive Board of GP Ansor (2015–2017), board member of the Amil Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah Institution of the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Board (2022–2027), and Deputy Secretary General of the National Executive Board of the Diponegoro University Alumni Association (IKA Undip) (2022–2027).
With this extensive organizational background, Faiz felt confident in running as a candidate for Regent of Batang in the 2024 regional election, partnering with Suyono, S.IP., M.Si., which ultimately led to his election for the 2025–2030 term.
