Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih (born March 23, 1976) is an Indonesian politician who has served as the Regent of Gunungkidul since February 20, 2025. She is one of the female regents in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) for the 2025–2030 term. Previously, she served as Chairwoman of the Gunungkidul Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) for the 2019–2024 period.
Endah was born in Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. She is a native resident of Kapanewon Ponjong, a rural area in Gunungkidul. She completed her primary education at SDN Kenteng 1 Ponjong (1982–1988), continued to SMP Negeri 2 Ponjong (1988–1991), and graduated from SMA/SMEA Muhammadiyah Karangmojo (1991–1994).
After completing secondary school, she pursued higher education at AMP YKPN Yogyakarta, earning a Diploma (D3) degree (1999–2002). She later obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from STIE YKPN Yogyakarta (2002–2004). In 2023, she continued her postgraduate studies in the Agribusiness Master’s Program at the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, and graduated in February 2024. Currently, Endah is pursuing doctoral studies at the same university with a concentration in Animal Science.
Her political career began in 2011 as an expert staff member for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) faction at the Yogyakarta Special Region DPRD. This experience led to her election as a member of the Gunungkidul Regency DPRD for the 2014–2019 term. She was subsequently appointed Chairwoman of the Gunungkidul DPRD for the 2019–2024 period.
Endah once ran as a candidate for Vice Regent in the 2015 Gunungkidul Regional Election, paired with Djangkung Sujarwadi. However, they were defeated by the Badingah–Immawan Wahyudi ticket.
In the 2024 Gunungkidul Regional Election, Endah ran for Regent alongside Joko Parwoto. The pair was supported by several political parties, including PDI Perjuangan, Golkar, the National Awakening Party (PKB), and the Labor Party. Their victory made Endah the second female regent of Gunungkidul and the fourth in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
In 2025, Endah Subekti Kuntariningsih received an award at the prestigious Wonder Mom Awards 2025, organized by Metro TV, winning the Excellent Mom in Transformative Public Leadership category.
The award was presented in recognition of Endah’s visionary and transformative leadership. She has been widely regarded as successful in delivering tangible innovations in public services, governance, and regional development that have had a direct impact on improving the welfare of the people of Gunungkidul.
