Mohammad Haris Damanhuri Romly, better known as Gus Haris (born September 27, 1974), is an Indonesian entrepreneur and politician from Pondok Pesantren Zainul Hasan Genggong, Pajarakan District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java. Gus Haris has served as the Regent of Probolinggo since February 20, 2025, alongside his deputy, Lora Fahmi, after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace.
After completing his primary and secondary education, Gus Haris pursued medical studies, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine at Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA), Semarang, followed by a Professional Doctor Program at the same university. His commitment to advancing his knowledge in health sciences led him to obtain a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang.
Gus Haris is a dynamic leader active across multiple sectors, including politics, economy, education, religion, youth, and sports. He currently serves as Regent of Probolinggo (2025–present), together with his deputy Lora Fahmi, following a long track record of involvement in various organizations and strategic institutions.
In the field of economy and entrepreneurship, Gus Haris has been entrusted as Honorary Board Member of BPC HIPMI Probolinggo Regency (2017–2027) and Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council of KADIN Probolinggo Regency (2023–2028). His contribution to the agricultural sector is reflected in his role as Chairman of the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) of Probolinggo Regency (2022–2027).
In religious education and pesantren leadership, Gus Haris serves as Head of the Pesantren Bureau of Zainul Hasan Genggong and as a lecturer at Universitas Hafshawaty Zainul Hasan Genggong. He also has experience as Principal of SMP Zainul Hasan 1 Genggong. Furthermore, he previously held positions as Vice Chairman of the Health Institute of PWNU East Java (2015–2023), Chairman of Pagar Nusa Genggong Branch (2019–2024), and Advisory Board Member of PW GP Ansor East Java (2019–2023).
