Prof. Mohamad Nasir, Independent Commissioner of Bank Syariah Indonesia and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Diponegoro University, is an alumnus of the Faculty of Economics, Diponegoro University (Undip). Prof. Nasir, as he is called, is also the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education for the 2014-2019 period. Prior to becoming a minister, he was the Rector of Diponegoro University (Undip) for the 2014–2018 period. He is also known as a Professor in the field of Behavioral and Management Accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Business Undip.

Born in Ngawi, June 27, 1960, Prof. Nasir grew up in a strong religious education environment. Since childhood, he was educated in the pesantren environment, his secondary school at Madrasah Tsanawiyah, the Mambaul Ilmi Asyar’y Islamic Boarding School, Rembang and the Al-Islah Islamic Boarding School, Kediri. He has a strong background in economics and accounting, and has experience working as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Undip, Vice Chancellor II of Undip, Head of the Master of Accounting Program at the Faculty of Economics, Diponegoro University, Independent Commissioner of Bank Mandiri (2019–2022) and Bank Syariah Indonesia since 2023.

When he was the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Prof. M. Nasir had made a breakthrough to eradicate fake private universities or “fake campuses”. In addition to his academic career, Nasir is active in various professional and community organizations, such as the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI), Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and the Central Java MUI Sharia Economic Commission. In the field of professional organizations, Prof. Nasir served as an Advisor to the Indonesian Accounting Association (IAI) in the Central Java region and was the Chairman of the Indonesian Accounting Association (IAI) Educator Accountant Compartment (KAPd) in the 2010–2012 period. This experience shows his high dedication to the world of education, bureaucracy, and the professional sector. His career reflects his dedication to the development of education, sharia economics, and bureaucratic reform in Indonesia.
