Sasongko Tedjo, a Chairman of Central Indonesia Red Cross Volunteers, is the alumni of Faculty of Economics and Business, class of 1983, Diponegoro University (UNDIP). He worked in Suara Merdeka as a journalist as well as an editor of the economic section.

Became a Chairman of Central Indonesia Red Cross Volunteers, Sasongko Tedjo was a journalist as well as an editor of the economic section at Suara Merdeka. Sasongko Tedjo was one of the seven fastest graduates, successfully completing his studies in just four years. At that time, there was a transition from a package-based system to a credit-based system. In 1983, he earned the title of Bachelor of Economics. However, interestingly, he still had to complete his Community Service Program (KKN) at that time. After the graduation ceremony, he had to return to a village in Gemuh District, Kendal Regency, to finish his KKN assignment.

Sasongko Tedjo, is the alumni of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Diponegoro University (Undip), recalls his college days as both challenging and amusing. Living just 100 meters from the campus meant he had no chance to skip classes, his friends would often wait for him at his home before heading to lectures. This proximity made him one of the most diligent students.
Despite his academic excellence and being offered a job at Bank Indonesia, Sasongko Tedjo chose journalism over a conventional career in economics. His decision surprised many, including his professor, Drs. Suratal HW, who had plans to recruit him as a lecturer at Undip. However, Sasongko Tedjo was drawn to the excitement of journalism, starting at Suara Merdeka (SM), where he immediately managed the Economics section, a prestigious position at the time.

He fondly recalls the golden era of print media when newspapers were eagerly awaited each morning. Late night events often required reporters to work until the early hours to meet publication deadlines. Sasongko Tedjo thrived during this period, eventually becoming the Editor in Chief, a pinnacle achievement in the print media industry.
