His decision surprised many, including his professor, Drs. Suratal HW, who had plans to recruit him as a lecturer at Undip. However, Sasongko Tedjo was drawn to the excitement of journalism, starting at Suara Merdeka (SM), where he immediately managed the Economics section, a prestigious position at the time.
He fondly recalls the golden era of print media when newspapers were eagerly awaited each morning. Late night events often required reporters to work until the early hours to meet publication deadlines. Sasongko Tedjo thrived during this period, eventually becoming the Editor in Chief, a pinnacle achievement in the print media industry.
