Ali Mufiz (born July 21, 1944) is an Indonesian academic and politician. He was the Governor of Central Java from September 28, 2007 to 2008. Mufiz became governor after the previous governor, Mardiyanto, was honorably dismissed because he was appointed as Minister of Home Affairs of Indonesia. He was deputy governor during Mardiyanto’s administration. Outside of politics, Mufiz is also a lecturer in Public Administration at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Diponegoro University.
A graduate of FISIP Diponegoro University (Undip) (1971) and the University of Southern California (Master of Public Administration, 1987), Mufiz was once appointed as Secretary of the Administration Department of FISIP Undip (1981-1984) and Head of the State Administration Study Program (1984-1993). In addition, he also served as Secretary of the Sultan Agung Waqf Foundation, Chairman of the Central Java MUI to Deputy Chairman of the Central Java NU PW.
