H. Tjahjo Kumolo, S.H. (EYD: Cahyo Kumolo; 1 December 1957 – 1 July 2022) was an Indonesian politician who served as Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet from October 2019 until his death.[1][2] In his political career, he was a member of Golongan Karya during the New Order and eventually joined the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.
He attended school for 12 years in the big city of Semarang and lived in the Mlatiharjo sub-district on the east side of the city. After graduating from high school, he studied law at Diponegoro University, graduating in 1985. During this period, he was elected as the Chairperson of the Central Java Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI). He also studied at the National Resilience Institute in 1994.
He died after being treated for two weeks at the Abdi Waluyo Hospital in Central Jakarta on July 1, 2022. The cause of his death was revealed to be multiorgan failure caused by asthenia, lung infection, diabetes, and gout that he suffered from. Information about the four diseases he suffered from was not known to the public before his death. After being prayed for at the Quba Mosque in the Ministry of PAN-RB complex, Senayan, South Jakarta, Tjahjo Kumolo’s body was buried at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery with military ceremonies.
